Canadian mineral exploration firm Zinc X announced the surface drill permit for its Akie Zn-Pb-Ag project has been extended from Dec 31, 2020, to the end of next year.
The Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Petroleum Resources issued the extension in a joint initiative with the Association of Mineral Exploration as a measure to prevent COVID-19 from spreading during explorations.
Based on the firm’s Preliminary Economic Assessment of Akie in 2018, the indicated mineral resources were 22.7mn mt, out of which 8.32pc was zinc, while the inferred mineral resources were 7.5mn mt, 7.04pc of which was zinc.
The mine is expected to have 18 years of life with a daily average production rate of 4,000mt.
