China-based Wenshan Aluminium’s low-carbon, hydropower integrated project will commence operations by late this month, according to media reports. The project has an annual aluminium smelting capacity of 500,000mt. The first stage of the potline would start working by April-end.

 

The integrated aluminium project consists of an electrolytic workshop, a casting workshop, an anode assembly workshop and an electrolyte treatment workshops, a storage and transportation system for alumina, comprehensive repair workshops and other infrastructure. Wenshan has so far invested CNY800,000mn ($113,074mn) for the project which started construction in 2018. 

 

Wenshan Aluminium is a subsidiary of Yunnan Aluminium Industry. The company produced 266,000 mt of alumina in Q1 2020 (Jan-March).
