The board of directors of Vedanta Limited has given its approval for expansion of capacity of Lanjigarh Alumina Refinery to 5mn mt from 2mn mt with an investment of Rs37.79bn ($517mn). The expansion will be carried out after getting all the government approvals. 

The company announced this through its regulatory filing on Feb 4, 2020 after its board meeting on Feb 3 to approve the expansion of the refinery. 

The company announced that this project will be the world’s largest single location alumina refinery project.
