Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Gunnar Groebler, head of Vattenfall AB’s wind business unit, will part with the Swedish state-owned utility company to take up the position as CEO of Germany’s steel and technology group Salzgitter AG, according to a company announcement.

 

Groebler will stay with the Swedish energy company’s wind business unit until May 2021 at the latest, where he has served for 21 years, before replacing the retiring CEO Prof. Dr.-Ing. Heinz Jörg Fuhrmann at the German steel giant.

 

Salzgitter’s chairman of the supervisory board Heinz-Gerhard Wente described Groebler as a person who “holds a great deal of expertise and experience in important aspects of the key future topics decisive for Salzgitter”.

 

Salzgitter AG has the capacity to produce approximately 7mn mt of crude steel per annum and has the capability to manufacture a wide variety of strips, plates, sections, slabs, and tubular goods.
