Brazilian miner Vale plans to increase its iron ore production by 7mn mt per year after its Timbopeba mine begins full-scale production.
In a media statement on Friday, the company noted that it has started the commissioning process to use all six production lines at the mine and forecasts total production capacity at about 12mn mt of iron ore annually.
The company had suspended operations at Timbopeba in 2019, and restarted partially in May 2020 with only three production lines active. With the remaining lines being restarted, Vale will move toward stabilizing its yearly iron ore production back to its target level of 400mn mt by late-2022.
