PT Vale Indonesia’s nickel matte production dropped 17pc in H1 2021 to 30,246mt compared with 36,315mt during the same period last year. The company’s output also decreased 20pc to 15,048mt in Q2 2021 compared to 18,701mt in 2020 according to the company’s earnings release on Jul 19.
Despite this, the company still maintains its goal of producing 64,000mt of nickel matte this year at its mines in the Sorowako block, South Sulawesi, Indonesia.
Various scheduled maintenance activities at its processing plant caused Vale Indonesia’s production to decline in the first half of the year. Total output was 1pc lower in Q2 2021 from 15,195mt in the first quarter of 2021.
