Steel shipments from US mills rose by 0.7pc to 29.95mn nt in the first four months of the year when compared to 29.73mn nt when compared to the same period last year, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) data.

 

Shipments also increased by 39.5pc to 7.85mn nt (7.12mn mt) in April 2021 from 5.62mn nt shipped in the same month last year. 

 

US steel shipments, however, fell on a monthly basis, by 1.3pc from 7.95mn nt in March. Hot dipped galvanized sheet was up 11pc, cold-rolled sheet up by 3pc and hot-rolled sheet declined by 2 pc in the first four months of 2021 in comparison to the same timeframe in the previous year, AISI specified.
