US primary aluminum premiums were unchanged from last week, with plenty of primary aluminum supply available from North American sources.

 

The Davis Index premium for P1020a delivered US Midwest remained at 13.8¢/lb under the three-month LME aluminum contract on Monday, while the premium for 6063 billet del US was flat at 7¢/lb under the same LME aluminum contract.

 

North American aluminum producers are looking to keep premiums at these levels in the short term to maximize their returns and prevent imports from coming in.

 

The three-month official LME price for aluminum increased to $0.7743/lb on Monday, from $0.7695/lb on Feb 3.
