The US Department of Commerce imposed anti-dumping duties (AD) on circular welded carbon-quality steel pipe from Oman and drawn stainless steel sinks from China in two separate notifications this week.
The department said on Apr 5 that it had found a company each, from both the countries practising unfair trade for those products, selling them at lower than market value into the US.
During its investigation on circular welded carbon-quality steel pipe imports from Oman for the period of review (POR) December 1, 2018, to November 30, 2019, Commerce found that Al Jazeera Steel Products had supplied the product to the US at less than fair value and slapped an AD of 1.56pc on the company.
On investigating China’s exports of drawn stainless steel sinks to the US between April 1, 2019, and March 30, 2020, the department found that KaiPing Dawn Plumbing Products had resorted to unfair trade practices for the product and levied an AD of 1.78pc on the company.
Commerce has asked the US Customs and Border Protection to assess AD on all entries from both companies for the respective PORs to implement the AD announced by Commerce.
