Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Superalloy prices increased across most grades on Thursday on an uptick in LME nickel.

The weekly Davis Index for Hastelloy C increased to $4.465/lb from $4.423/lb on Thursday and increased for Hastelloy X to $2.66/lb from $2.59/lb for single truckload delivered processor yard.

The index for Inconel 600 ticked up to $3.372/lb from $3.308/lb, while Inconel 601 also jumped up to $2.771/lb from $2.756/lb. Inconel 617 increased by $1.11/lb to $2.879/lb delivered.

Inconel 625 Vac was among the only grades where prices declined with the index for the grade falling to $3.154/lb from $3.156/lb. The Davis Index for Inconel 718 Vac increased to $3.038/lb from $3.007/lb on Thursday.

The official LME nickel cash contract closed Thursday at $13,425/mt, up by $10/mt from Wednesday.

A slight uptick on LME nickel and increasing demand has raised superalloy prices over the past week. Processors, however, expect prices to move sideways over the next few weeks as the rise in demand for the material is slow currently.
