Aluminum scrap exports to India from the US increased in July after easing in H1 2020 due to the COVID-19 related shutdowns in the South Asian nation, according to the latest US Geological Survey data.
The US exported 21,700mt of aluminum scrap to India in July, up 1.4pc from 21,400mt in the same month last year. In comparison, these exports accounted for 12,800mt in June while trading in May stood at 4,190mt. A surging trend has been witnessed in India’s imports of aluminum scrap from the US over the past three months.
However, In January-July 2020 India imported 145,000mt of scrap, down 3.4pc from 150,000mt in the prior-year period.
