Ukraine increased its pig iron and ferrous scrap shipments to foreign outlets in January-July amid better demand, according to the country’s Customs data.

 

The CIS nation exported 1.822mn mt of pig iron during the period under review compared to 1.801mn mt in the same timeframe in 2020, the data indicated. More than half of the material (59.6pc) was shipped to the USA, 16.8pc to Italy, and 11.7pc to Turkey.

 

Pig iron production in Ukraine reached 12.651mn mt through the first seven months of this year, increasing from 11.741mn mt in the same period of 2020, according to Ukrmetalurgprom.

 

Ukraine exported 335,000mt of ferrous scrap in January-July compared to 36,000mt in the whole of last year, according to Ukrainian customs. Almost all the material (94.4pc) was shipped to Turkey.
