Turkey’s automotive industry produced a total 1.461mn cars in 2019, down by 6pc from the prior year amid a shrinkage in domestic demand and volatility in the global market. Turkey exported 1.252mn vehicles, down by 5pc in 2019 from the previous year.
Passenger car production stood at 983,000 units in 2019, down 4pc from the prior year, according the Turkey’s automotive industry association (OSD). Commercial vehicle production fell by 9pc, heavy commercial vehicle down by 18pc and light commercial vehicle dipped by 8pc in 2019 compared to a year ago.
Domestic demand contraction led to 23pc decline in Turkey’s car sales with a total of 492,000 vehicles sold in 2019.
On the other hand, Turkey’s the online used car market grew 10pc from a year ago, with a sales of 1.77 million units.
