Turkish integrated steel mill Kardemir is reducing daily production companywide by beginning various planned maintenance and repair activities ahead of schedule, it announced April 1.
Davis Index has learned that Kardemir will decrease production by around 30pc—a decision intended to mitigate damage from the COVID-19 crisis, which includes protecting the health of its workers in the country. Kardemir is decreasing its employee density because, in addition to maximizing occupational safety, market conditions in the iron and steel sectors aren’t favorable.
Kardemir has annual crude steel capacity of 3mn mt. In 2019, company’s output reached 2.3mn mt.
