Turkish steelmakers exported 893,000mt of hot-rolled coils (HRC) in January-May 2021 compared with 1.11mn mt in the same period of 2020.
According to statistical source SteelData, flat product supply from Turkey to Italy and Spain dropped by 35pc and 26pc to 256,000mt and 127,000mt, respectively, during the period under review.
In the first five months of the year, Turkey shipped 121,000mt of HRC to the USA, 53,000mt to Tunisia, and 45,000mt to South Africa, against virtually no export of the material to these nations in January-May 2020.
Flat product supply from Turkey to Iraq amounted to 40,000mt in January-May compared to 35,000mt in the same period last year.
In May, Turkey exported 267,000mt of HRC versus 255,000mt in the same month a year ago, according to SteelData. Supply to Italy, Spain, and the USA totaled 91,000mt, 31,000mt, and 52,000mt, respectively.
