Turkish steelmaker Diler Demir Celik, a Marmara-based subsidiary of Diler Holding, has signed a contract with Germany’s SMS group to revamp its 125-tonne ladle furnace.

 

Diler Demir Celik aims to improve the efficiency, reliability, and product quality with this project, which includes the replacement of the LF column lifting system, new conductive type electrode arms, the whole power feeding system, the redesign of the roof having a customized lifting system and improved fume caption efficiency and the hydraulic unit, without any modification to the surrounding equipment and to the layout.

 

Once completed, the upgraded furnace will provide Diler Demir Celik the ability to adjust the steel analysis and casting temperature and to improve the desulphurization more efficiently and reliably. The project is scheduled for completion by Q3 2021.

 

Diler Demir Celik has the capability of producing 1.5mn mt of crude steel per year.
