Steel billet exports from Turkey increased by 8pc in Q1 2021 compared to the same period last year, according to statistical source SteelData.
Turkish producers exported 245,000mt of semis during the period under review versus 226,000mt in the same quarter of 2020 amid better demand at foreign outlets. Billet shipments to Morocco dropped by 51pc to 66,500mt in Q1 2021 but rose by 60pc to 52,000mt to Tunisia. Turkey’s semis exports to Peru increased by 4pc to 31,500mt during the quarter.
Turkish companies supplied 40,000mt of billet to Guatemala and 19,000mt of semis to El Salvador, while there were no shipments to these countries in January-March 2020, according to SteelData.
