Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

The weekly Davis Index for Turkish DKP scrap (equivalent to bonus grade) decreased by TRY18/mt ($3/mt) to TRY1,809/mt delivered on Friday and for extra grade scrap (equivalent to HMS 1&2 [85:15]) dropped by TRY21/mt ($3/mt) to TRY1,705/mt delivered.


Turkish mills remain diverged on pricing policies in the domestic ferrous scrap market, depending on their requirements. Some producers did not revise purchase prices for the material this week, while others decided to decrease them.


Colakoglu Metalurji kept buying DKP grade at TRY1,850/mt delivered and extra grade at TRY1,725/mt delivered. 


On the other hand, Diler Demir Celik cut purchase prices by TRY30/mt to TRY1,710/mt delivered for DKP grade and to TRY1,600/mt delivered for extra grade on May 20.


Erdemir continued buying DKP grade at TRY1,870/mt delivered and extra grade at TRY1,865/mt delivered, while Isdemir decreased purchase prices by TRY45/mt to TRY1,700/mt delivered for DKP grade and to TRY1,695/mt delivered for extra grade.


Kardemir is still paying TRY1,925/mt delivered for DKP grade and TRY1,765/mt delivered for extra grade.


In Izmir, purchase prices for shipbreaking scrap increased by $5/mt to $240/mt delivered.
