The daily Davis Index for Turkish imports of US-origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) was flat at $272.50/mt cfr on Wednesday, with no deep-sea bookings reported—although some short-sea cargoes were purchased in Turkey.
Some Azov-Black Sea basin scrap suppliers provided discounts to Turkish mills, which brought the Index for HMS 1&2 (80:20) from Romania down to $260/mt cfr on January 28 from $270/mt cfr a week ago.
Bids for HMS 1&2 (80:20) from the US and Baltic region remain at $270/mt cfr, or lower. Buyers in Turkey’s scrap market continue to be inactive, but a few Marmara and Izmir mills were looking for deep-sea cargoes Wednesday. Negotiations are underway, though no deals have been confirmed.
