The daily Davis Index for Turkish imports of US-origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) decreased by $2.73/mt to $277.72/mt cfr on Tuesday with a sale reported from the Baltic region.

A Karadeniz-based mill purchased 16,000mt of HMS 1&2 (80:20), 12,500mt of shredded scrap, 2,500mt of bonus scrap and 1,000mt of busheling at an average price of $283/mt cfr from a supplier from Denmark.

Deals are expected to be sporadic this week as demand for imported scrap has decreased in the Turkish market and most mills are focused on domestic scrap bookings.

Some Turkish steelmakers still require cargoes for March shipment but may postpone purchases to resist price increase or even achieve lower prices.
