The weekly Davis Index for Turkish DKP scrap (equivalent to bonus grade) decreased by TRY143/mt ($22/mt) to TRY1,515/mt delivered on Monday, while the index for extra grade scrap (equivalent to HMS 1&2 [85:15]) dropped by TRY147/mt ($22/mt) to TRY1,434/mt delivered.
Poor demand for domestic scrap and a downtrend in the imported scrap and steel products has resulted in all Turkish mills continuing to cut purchase prices for domestic scrap.
Colakoglu Metalurji reduced its purchase prices by TRY150/mt to TRY1,515/mt delivered for DKP grade and to TRY1,390/mt delivered for extra grade. The company had last revised its prices on March 26.
Diler Demir lowered purchase prices by TRY120/mt to TRY1,480/mt delivered for DKP grade and to TRY1,370/mt delivered for extra grade.
Erdemir dropped purchase prices by TRY160/mt to TRY1,550/mt delivered for DKP grade and to TRY1,545/mt delivered for extra grade, while Isdemir reduced them by TRY150/mt to TRY1,450/mt delivered for DKP grade and to TRY1,445/mt delivered for extra grade. Both the mills had last revised their prices on March 27.
Kardemir cut purchase prices by TRY180/mt to TRY1,685/mt delivered for DKP grade and to TRY1,525/mt delivered for extra grade.
The purchase prices for shipbreaking scrap in the Izmir region remained unchanged at $215/mt delivered.
