Car production in Turkey increased eight-fold in April to 76,334 units up from a low base of 9,661 units produced in the prior year due to COVID-19-related lockdown. Turkey’s auto data was presented by Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD) on May 10.
Total auto production in April has soared 9 times to 110,093 which is an 805pc increase from the prior year’s 12,161 units. Total auto exports in April have jumped up by 635pc to 78,086 units.
In January-April, car production has jumped up by 17.7pc to 288,211 units while total production is higher by 30pc to 470,859 units from the prior year.
Production in April is up by 2pc from the prior month.
Segment-wise production
Heavy truck production was reported at 3,043 units, up 13 times from the prior year while light truck production was recorded at 388 units, up by 605pc from the year prior. Tractor production has increased by 361pc to 4,597 units in April compared to the prior year.
Sales
In the first four months of the year, auto sales have grown by 23pc to 204,839 units compared to the year prior period. April monthly sales have increased by 122pc in April which was released earlier in the month.
