Auto production in Turkey fell by 7pc to 1.33mn vehicles in Jan-Nov from the prior year period, according to data released by the country’s Automotive Manufacturers’ Association (OSD).
Production of heavy commercial vehicles dropped by 9pc to 438,000 units and passenger car production fell by 6pc to 888,000 from the year prior. The production drop in automobile industry reflected in Turkey’s crude steel output which was down by 10.4pc to 30.9mn mt for Jan-Nov 2019. The automobile sales dropped by 29pc to 399,077 units in the 11-month period.
In 2018, 1.55mn vehicles were produced in the country driving the export revenues up by 11pc from 2017. Passenger car exports increased by 5.3pc to $12.4bn. Turkey’s crude steel production in 2018 was 37mn mt.
