Turkey’s total auto production rose 5.3pc to 146,262 units in September from the prior year, according to data released by Automotive Manufacturing Association (OSD).
Passenger car production in September was almost unchanged at around 90,447 units from the year prior. Commercial vehicles produced, which includes bus, minibus, light & heavy trucks, and pickups were 51,682 units, up by 12.7pc from the prior year. Tractor production increased by 54pc in September compared to 2019.
In the Jan-Sep period, total auto production declined by 18.2pc to 878.163 units from the prior-year period. In the nine months, the number of passenger cars produced fell by 17.8pc from a year ago. Commercial vehicle production declined by 22pc in Jan – Sept period and stood at 278,466 units.
In September, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles rose by 115.8pc to 90,619 units. In Jan – Sept period, sales increased by 75.5pc compared to the previous year. Sales forecast was revised to 700,000-750,000 units for the year, stated Turkey’s auto body.
