Turkey’s auto production jumped 44pc to 75,241 units in August from the prior year, according to Turkey’s Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD).
In the Jan-Aug period, production dropped by 23pc to 712,098 units from the preceding year with capacity utilization rate at 53pc in the same period.
Seasonally in August, most automotive manufacturers in Turkey suspend production for maintenance or repairs, however this year, companies are focused on recovering the losses incurred due to the pandemic by continuing production to meet the annual target.
Production of light commercial vehicles and tractors also grew in August.
In August, Turkey’s auto sales jumped by 137pc to around 63,621 units compared to the year prior. Exports of automobiles declined by 13pc in August compared to 2019, revealed OSD data. Exports fell on COVID-19-related demand slump.
