China’s stainless steel company Tsingshan’s (Qingshan) subsidiary, PT Ekasa Yad Resources, signed a contract with Indonesia’s Silkroad Nickel for supply of high-grade nickel ore, according to local media.
Silkroad will supply high-grade nickel ore to Tsingshan from March to December 2022. A total of 2.7mn dry mt will be supplied with minimum quantity of 50,000 dmt/month. Nickel will be extracted from laterite nickel ore mine in Indonesia’s Morowali.
The contract is worth $90mn which was decided by the Indonesian government based on nickel benchmark ore prices.
Silkroad is expected to increase production gradually from April to deliver as per the contract. The nickel procured from Silkroad will be used for Tsinghan’s nickel matter production.
