Toyota Motor Thailand has halted production at all plants due to a shortage of semiconductors, claim media reports. The global automaker has three plants in Thailand together with an annual capacity of 760,000units.
The carmaker has decided to shut operations till Wednesday, July 23, but is yet to decide if all three plants will restart on the same day. The latest COVID-19 outbreak has led to the shutdown of auto parts manufacturers in the country, said company officials to local media.
Toyota has also announced staggered production adjustments at its Fujimatsu plant, Japan for five days. Production line number 2 will stay shut on July 29-30 and August 3-4. COVID-19 has spread in Southeast Asia, which has resulted in a shortage of parts.
