Toyota Kirloskar Motor halted operations at Bidadi plant in Karnataka, as announced by the company on July 14. The company had to shut down operations as employees were infected by the COVID-19 virus. The company’s decision falls in line with the state government’s directives to curb the spread of the virus amid a rise in reported cases in the state. Karnataka has called for a complete lockdown on July 15.

 

Toyota India has quarantined all the employees that came in contact with the infected person at Bidadi plant which will be shut until July 22. There are 22 employees in the unit that were infected, as reported by local media. 

 

The Bidadi plant had reached almost 60pc of its pre-COVID-19 production volumes. 

 

Auto component supplier, Bosch’s manufacturing unit in Bidadi also reported around 75 positive COVID cases, reported a week prior.
