Turkey’s Tosyali Demir Çelik Sanayi has purchased three 150-ton ladle furnaces and a seven-strand high-speed continuous casting machine from SMS. The equipment is part of the 2.2mn mt annual capacity new greenfield steel production facility in Sariseki slated for commissioning by September 2022.
The plant will produce both long and flat products for use in the automotive and construction industries with a focus on the latter to make steel structures for energy transmission lines.
The three ladles will allow accurate control of the chemical configuration, temperature, and castability of the steel produced. The casting machine tracks and records all the steel specifications along with equipment life parameters for optimal maintenance.
The combi caster will have a 10.25mt radius and produce 150mm square billets with optional expansion capacity to produce beams and blooms in the future. With casting speeds of up to 5.5mt/minute, the company will produce high-carbon steels, cold heading steels, spring steels, rebar, wire rod, and welding wire.
