Germany’s thyssenkrupp Steel Europe placed an order with SMS group for an annealing and insulating line for electric strip at its Bochum site. The new annealing and insulating line will have an annual capacity of about 200,000mt of non-grain-oriented electric strip and be commissioned in 2024.
The electric strip will primarily be used to manufacture efficient electric motors and generators for electric vehicles. Product width will be from 700-1,350mm and thickness of 0.2-1mm.
thyssenkrupp is investing in restoring core elements of its production network to meet e-mobility customer demand. The new line is being designed with a high degree of automation and digitalization to save on maintenance, time, and other resources. The new facility will be incorporated in an existing hall and organized in several floors. 3D modeling is being utilized in the design to optimize set-up for real conditions.
