Thailand’s production of automobile units in October rose by 2.24pc to 149,360 units from the year prior, according to the Federation of Thai Industries.


The association stated that 55pc of the total production was for the local markets; 82,157 units, while production for exports dropped almost by 20pc to 67,203 units from the previous year, according to the data. 


From January to October, the country producer 1.11mn units, down by 36pc from the previous year. In the 10-month period, Thailand exported 592,829 units down by 34pc from a year ago. In 2019, the country producer a total of 2mn units. 


Sales of domestic cars dropped by 1.4pc from the previous year in October to 74,114 units narrowing down from a dip of 4.1pc from the previous month. Demand for vehicles is increasing relative to prior months as the government eased COVID-19-related lockdown restrictions. Demand for pick-up trucks has risen slightly, said FTI Chairman.
