Davis Index – Daily metal prices, scrap prices & global metal market

Thailand’s semi-finished steel imports jumped 162pc in Nov 2019 to 4,35,521 mt, from the prior year, as per a Davis Index data analysis. 

Imports also increased by 128% in Nov, over the prior month. 

In November 2019, Oman was the highest semi-finished steel exporter to Thailand, with a 22pc share of the Thai imports at 93,880mt.

This was followed by Iran who claimed 16pc or 68,751mt; Ukraine at 12pc or 50,794mt; India at 11pc or 49,597; Japan had 11pc or 46,800 mt; Russia gave 9pc or 40,109 mt; Bahrain saw 9pc or 39,981 mt and the UAE had 8pc or 35,749 mt; the rest came in from other countries.

The Davis Index data analysis showed the country’s ferrous scrap imports were down by 42pc in Nov 2019, at 83,625 mt, from the prior year. Ferrous scrap imports increased by 11% over the prior month. 

 

In November 2019, Singapore was the highest ferrous scrap exporter to Thailand at 16pc or 13,229mt, followed by Panama at 13pc or 11,182mt; Costa Rica at 10pc or 8,418mt; the United States with 10pc or 8,221; Australia at 10pc or 8,058 mt; Japan with 5pc or 4,519 mt; and the rest coming in from other countries.
