Steel pipemaker Tex-Isle plans to open a new 350,000nt (317,604mt) annual steel capacity tubular mill located in Robstown, Texas in Q3 2021. The greenfield mill is planned adjacent to the current OCTG heat treating facility in Robstown and will provide feedstock to its other facilities.

The mill will produce 3.75 to 5.63-inch steel tubes. Total production will account for 250,000nt or 71pc in API material and 100,000nt or 29pc for structural products. The company seeks to service the growing Corpus Christi and South Texas region with structural tubular solutions.

Over the past decade Tex-Isle created two new divisions, namely, Tex-Isle Coatin in George West and Tex-Isle Processing in Robstown. The new mill will place Tex-Isle’s capital investment in the region to about $100mn. Logistics benefits also access to rail and ports.
