The Ternium Industrial Center in Pesquería, Nuevo León, Mexico obtained the first two rolls from its new hot rolling mill, this week.
The Mexican steelmaker said in a media statement on May 18 that with the production of these two rolls the new mill had begun operations. Ternium has invested more than $ 1.1bn in this mill that is expected.
The steelmaker plans to annually produce more than 4mn mt of of specialized steel for the automotive and home appliances industries. It will continue to produce test rolls until the mill begins formal operations in June.
