Teck Resources announced on Saturday that operations at its Highland Valley Copper mine in British Columbia have halted temporarily as a result of an evacuation order, in response to wildfire activity, from the District of Logan Lake.
Excluding a few workers who were responsible for ensuring environmental protection and safety, the mine was completely evacuated following the order. At present, there are no risks to the mine’s infrastructure. However, Teck will still observe wildfire conditions.
Operations will resume after the order has been lifted; Teck is uncertain of the date.
