Teck Resources’ operations in southwestern British Columbia have been impacted by smoke from wildfires. Trail Operations, a major integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining facility, had to shut its oxygen plant due to low ambient air quality.
The facility’s zinc refining is operating at approximately 70pc utilization, while lead refining is operating at normal levels. However, lead smelting work has been temporarily shut. The resumption of halted production will depend on when the air quality improves. In Q1, the facility produced 73,700mt zinc.
Canada-based Teck Resources is engaged in mining and mine development with a focus on copper, zinc, and steelmaking coal.
