Tata Motors’ production of car units fell in February by 34pc amid Covid-19 impacting supply-chain disruptions. Domestic sales dipped by 34pc in February from the year prior which has pushed Tata Motor’s to cut production of its key models. 

 

Tata Motors’ produced a total of 37,272 units in February while 56,876 units were produced in the same month last year. The Covid-19 outbreak in China has affected the company’s auto parts supply chain and transition to BS-VI model, which impacted production in February. Furthermore, a recent fire at one of its vendors also hurt production of vehicle and wholesale volumes, said the company. 

 

In February, Tata Motors produced 7,714 units of Compact vehicles, down by 23pc from 10,184 units produced in the year prior. Utility vehicles production stood at 4,802 units in February from 7,483 units produced in the year prior.
