Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Taiwan’s aluminium scrap import fell to 6,317mt in June, down by 36pc from the prior year, according to Taiwan’s customs data. Scrap trading was impacted by a nationwide lockdown amid a rise in COVID-19 infections in Taiwan.

 

In June, aluminium scrap imports from the US and Mexico decreased by 49pc and 65pc to 1,516mt and 324mt, respectively, compared to a year ago. However, imports in H1 of 2021 were up by 5pc as compared to that of last year. Imports from Sweden increased to 297mt, up by 37pc compared to last year, but imports fell by 64pc from 835mt in May.

Copper scrap imports increased to 11,120mt in June, up by 48pc from the prior-year and up by 4pc from May. Imports from China and Saudi Arabia fell by 12pc and 28pc to 1,283mt and 947mt, respectively, compared to May. 

 

In H1, copper scrap imports increased by 2,442mt to 59,365mt, up by 4.29pc from the prior year period.
