Canada-based Stelco Holdings has restarted a blast furnace at its Nanticoke steelmaking complex, Ontario. The furnace was under upgradation, according to media reports.
The company had announced in September that it plans to create North America’s first smart blast furnace at its Lake Erie Works facility. The upgrades are expected to improve the quality of hot metal and increase the annual output by up to 300,000mt. It will also reduce the company’s production costs.
As per reports, the company is now looking to optimize the blast furnace’s full capacity.
