Steel Strips Wheels’ (SSW) sales of wheel rims in Feb 2020 rose by 1pc to 1,298,000 units from Feb 2019. The company’s gross turnover in the month amounted to Rs1,658.9mn, a drop from Rs1774mn in Feb 2019, according to the company.

The company reported highest ever monthly exports in February. Exports to the US surged in the month. Overall production of two & three wheelers and passenger cars were affected as the auto industry in India made the switch to produce BS-VI emission norms compliant engines. Manufacturing is also likely to be impacted in the near term due to the global Covid-19 outbreak.
SSW manufactures steel wheel rims and caters to the Indian and global automobile manufacturers. It has production facilities at Dappar (Punjab), Oragadam (Chennai) which produce passenger car wheels. Its Jamshedpur (Jharkhand) facility manufactures truck wheels. Total installed capacity in all three units is 16.6 million wheels.
