Steel rolling mills in China’s Tangshan city have halted production to reduce the spread of pollutants amid windy weather conditions in Fengrun districts, according to China Metallurgical News. The local authorities have issued notice to stop production for the safety of the workers and the steel plants.
Tianzhu Steel and Xinbaotai Steel plant’s sintering machines have been halted to reduce emissions. Few independent steel mills in Fengrun district have also suspended production, due to which 61,200mt of daily steel beams production output will be impacted.
Tangshan is China’s steel hub. The city has withdrawn 56.988mn mt of steelmaking capacity. Tangshan’s steel smelting companies have been reduced to 30 from 54.
