Australian miner South32 has awarded two contracts worth $90mn to SRG Global for engineering upgrades at the former’s Worsley Alumina plant in West Australia.
According to media reports, SRG has secured an eight-year tenure to provide specialist refractory engineering services at Worsley which includes gunning, casting, and installation of refractory products and anchors. The second contract is a two-year extension of SRG’s engineered access services from 2025 to 2027.
In the quarter ended June 30, 2020, Worsley produced 1.01mn mt of alumina, up 2pc from the prior-year period.
