Severstal’s Russian Steel division’s crude steel production in 2020, dropped by 4pc to 11.3mn mt from 11.8mn mt in 2019, while its hot metal production rose by 1pc to 9.5mn mt from 9.4mn mt.
In Q4 2020, the Russian Steel division’s crude steel output fell by 4pc to 2.7mn mt from 2.89mn mt in Q4 2019 while its hot metal production remained unchanged at 2.39mn mt from 2.4mn mt during the same period.
The division’s iron ore pellets sales in 2020 declined by 1pc to 10.9mn mt from 11mn mt in the previous year while its iron ore concentrate sales volume increased by 13pc to 7mn mt last year from 6.2mn mt in 2019. In the fourth quarter of 2020, iron ore pellet sales jumped by 8pc to 2.83mn mt from 2.61mn mt in Q4 2019 while iron ore concentrate sales declined by 11pc to 1.73mn mt from 1.96mn mt in the same period.
Steel sales at Severstal’s Russian Steel division fell by 4pc to 10.7mn mt from 11.2mn mt and dropped by 18pc to 2.4mn mt in Q4 2020 from 3mn mt in Q4 2019. The group’s consolidated total steel product sales in 2020 also fell by 4pc to 10.7mn mt from 11.1mn mt in 2019 and declined by 18pc to 2.4mn mt in the fourth quarter from 2.9mn mt in Q4 2019.
Intercompany sales rise
Severstal’s semi-finished products’ intercompany sales surged by 23pc to 601,000mt in 2020 from 487,000mt in 2019 while its downstream product sales increased by 2pc to 1.77mn mt from 1.73mn mt during the same timeframe.
Intercompany sales for rolled products declined by 6pc to 8.3mn mt in 2020 from 8.9mn mt in the prior year while iron ore sales dropped by 13pc to 6mn mt from 6.9mn mt during the same period.
In the fourth quarter of 2020, intercompany sales for iron ore rose by 10pc to 1.4mn mt from 1.35mn mt in Q4 2019, but rolled product sales during the same quarters under comparison fell by 26pc to 1.7mn mt from 2.3mn mt. In Q4 2020, sales of semi-finished products surged by 119pc to 212,000mt from 97,000mt in Q4 2019 while downstream product sales dropped by 8pc to 272,000mt from 296,000mt.
