Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Russian steelmaker Severstal is planning to expand its export base, with Director for Energy Sector at the company, Alexander Semenov, noting that the large diameter pipe (LDP) segment has immense potential.

Severstal delivered 2,350mt LDP to the US – its first ever to the country — having a diameter of 800.1mm and 19.05 mm wall thickness in compliance with the ASTM standard A252, Gr.3. These pipes are manufactured at the IzhoraPipe Mill facility in the Kolpinsky district of St. Petersburg.

Globally, supply of pipes with these highly specific characteristics is extremely limited, said a company statement.

In Jan-Sep period, Severstal sold 129,000mt of LDP, down 57pc from the prior year. The company expects 2020 to end on a high note driven by growing steel consumption in the coming days.
