North America’s Steel Dynamics (SDI) plans to begin sustainable production at its electric arc furnace (EAF) and has set interim reduction targets for 2025 and 2030.
The company aims to reduce greenhouse gases by 20pc in the next five years and by half within the next decade.
SDI will also increase the use of renewable electrical energy at its EAF mills by 10pc and 30pc, respectively, within the same timeframe. The company will focus on improving, identifying, researching, and increasing the use of innovative technology to help achieve its goals.
