South Africa’s producer price index (PPI) for final manufactured goods rose by 7.1pc to 105.4 in July 2021 compared to the same year-ago month as it rose by 0.7pc compared to June, according to Statistics South Africa (Statssa).
Metals, machinery, equipment, and computing equipment segment PPI expanded by 9.1pc to 106.5 in July year-on-year and 0.9pc in monthly terms. The PPI for basic iron and steel rose by 40.5pc to 130.1 in June 2021 against the same year-ago month and up 1.1pc against the preceding month.
Construction input price index
The index total construction input price index (CIPI)increased by 17pc to 131.7 in July 2021 compared to the year-ago month and 0.5pc against the previous month while increasing by.
The CIPI sub-index for civil engineering material climbed by 21.9pc to 141.9 in July compared to the year-ago month and 0.8pc compared to the preceding month.
The CIPI sub-index for construction structural and reinforcing steel rose by 42.9pc to 162.8 in July against the same month last year and 0.6pc compared to June.
The CIPI sub-index for wire of iron or steel grew by 22.2pc to 163.2 in July compared to the same month in 2020 and 1.2pc against the previous month.
