India-based Sarda Energy & Minerals’ wire rod production rose by 47pc to 39,258mt in December quarter (Oct-Dec) from the prior year led by increased production of billets. Sarda’s wire rod sales volume increased by 32pc to 32,341mt in the quarter.
The company’s steel billet production increased by 32pc to 47,577mt in December quarter compared to the prior year, while billet sales declined by 21pc to 7,269 mt as Sarda preferred to consume billet in-house for downstream production.
Sarda’s sponge iron production increased by 10pc to 83,952mt in December quarter from the prior year and sales were up marginally by a percent to 42,624mt.
Sarda Energy & Minerals is among India’s largest long steel producer. The company’s facilities are based in Raipur, Central India with iron pellet production capacity of 600,000mt, billet 156,000mt and wire rod at 118,000mt.
