Sarda Energy and Mineral has initiated resumption activities at its manufacturing facilities in Raipur, according to a company update. The plant operations will resume in a synchronised manner with all necessary precautions and permissions from local authorities.

 

Most secondary steel mills in India have stopped production since the nation-wide lockdown announced on March 24 in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

 

In Q3FY2020, Sarda Energy produced 158,000mt of iron ore pellet, down by 7pc from 171,000mt produced in Q3FY2019. Sponge iron production was 84,000mt of up 10pc from a year ago, while steel billet was 48,000mt, up 32pc from the prior year quarter.

 

Sarda Energy and Minerals is one of the largest long steel producer based in Raipur, central India. The company has an annual iron pellet production capacity of 6,00,000mt, sponge iron 3,60,000mt, billet 2,00,000mt and wire rod manufacturing capacity of 1,80,000mt.
