Steel Authority of India Limited’s (Sail) Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) unit has recorded highest hot metal production of 9,150mt on 19 September surpassing the previous best of 8,765mt on March 17 from its blast furance no.8, as per a company update.
The Bhilai unit is currently operating with four furnaces, producing 16,080mt of hot metal per day.
Sail’s crude steel production and sales were at 16.15mn mt and 14.5mn mt, respectively in FY2020. The company’s exports increased by 54pc to 1.18mn mt from a year ago.
