Russian airline Pobeda withdrew from a contract for 20 Boeing 737 Max jets due to issues with flying permits in the country.

According to media reports, Pobeda said that they have recalled the order without any penalties. Russia’s travel authority has barred Boeing 737s to take to the air after crashes in 2018-19 which claimed 346 lives. Due to a lack of permission, Pobeda has terminated the delivery of 5 carriers from GECAS and 15 from SMBC.

The company currently owns and operates 44 units of the Boeing 737-800 model. Notably, Pobeda’s parent organization Aeroflot is expected to provide 20 units in the next two years.
